Medicare and Dental, Vision & Hearing Insurance
One of the most frequently asked questions we receive from our clients is “Does Medicare cover dental, vision or hearing?” Unfortunately, the short answer is no, it doesn’t. However, there is a great “all-in-one” plan through Manhattan Life that we recommend to our clients.

There are certain situations that Medicare might cover your costs, but typically Medicare does not cover preventative & routine services. A common scenario that Medicare would cover your costs would be (for instance), you were in a car accident and your jaw was broken. Medicare would pay for the surgery, dental work or whatever else was necessary to get you fixed up. This example is the same for vision and hearing. If your eyes or ears were injured in an accident, then Medicare would pay for those expenses. Other than that, all the regular things that people normally need when it comes to dental, vision and hearing, you’ll need an additional insurance plan to cover these expenses.
Things That Medicare Does NOT Cover, But This Plan Would:
• Routine checkups & cleanings
• Fillings
• X-Rays
• Dentures
• Crowns
• Root canals
• Tooth extractions
• Implants
• Bridges
• Oral Surgery
• Cosmetic treatments
Medicare also does not cover eye exams, glasses, or contacts when it comes to hearing or vision coverage. Additionally, they will not cover hearing tests or hearing aids. So for all these additional services, you’ll need to add some supplemental insurance to your Medicare plan.
The good news is there is a dental, hearing & vision insurance plan that is a great alternative for what Medicare does not cover. Furthermore, this plan typically provides a better value than dental coverage alone; from a price standpoint, dental plans typically cost around the same price, and you are much more likely to make full use of your benefits when you combine all three popular services into one plan.
